They require no power supply and the magnetic force is retained for life. After magnetisation, the operating lever is locked. Thus there is no risk of demagnetisation when the load is lifted. The safety factor is 3:1 at recommended load. The holding force depends on the material, thickness and flatness of the workpiece.
