SpanSet Group is investing in numerous net zero initiatives internationally, including here in the UK where in 2021 we installed solar panels on the roof of the main building at Middlewich.
At the time, we were surprised to be restricted by the Network Operator to half the solar installation we had originally asked for.
No Greenwashing - SpanSet are genuinely committed to reducing our impact on the environment wherever possible and saw this restriction as a serious issue for both ourselves and the local community – we were determined to see it through and install a full complement of solar panels.
We therefore decided to challenge the decision and asked our local MP, Fiona Bruce to raise a question in Parliament on our behalf, which she did in early 2023.
As a result, Pete Ward Managing Director of SpanSet UK travelled to Westminster recently to meet with Andrew Bowie - Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Nuclear and Networks) at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
During their meeting, Pete was encouraged to learn Andrew will be contacting the Network provider concerned to confirm businesses should not be restricted from investing in solar projects. The Minister will also be supporting SpanSet in carrying out our original, ambitious plans.
We look forward to a successful outcome and increasing our solar power generation.
