Safer at Height on Site
SpanSet and Actavo have worked together for many years, so when they approached us to support a Rescue/Height Safety Demonstration Day, we were of course happy to help.
The event took place ar Keadby 2, the combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant which is being built in the north east of England. Actavo are the scaffolding parter to the principal contractor (a world leading technology brand), on this large construction site.
**Everyone was temperature checked before entering site, each worker wore a face covering at all times and used hand sanitiser.
Actavo wanted to ensure the wide range of subcontractors on site were working to the highest safety standards with their Working at Height procedures. From how to rescue an injured worker to the implications of a fall on a lanyard, SpanSet Safety Specialists, Chris James and Simon Mitchell conducted a wide range of demonstrations:
-
Gotcha CRD Rescue
-
Drop Tests on fall arrest lanyards/discussion on clearance heights, implications of using incorrect lanyards
-
Harness & Lanyard training (Correct fitting/usages of equipment for different procedures-MEWPs, steel erecting, scaffolding etc)
-
PPE inspection awareness.
Chris and Simon were busy all day, from 8am to 5pm with over 200 workers attending on what was fortunately a sunny day.
