How did the new Viper Anchor Roundsling get its name?

The Viper roundsling was launched earlier this year.  It is compact and easy to handle, strong with a high safety margin and has robust labelling.

As our premium anchor sling, the Viper is used in our iconic Gotcha Rescue kits.   It’s Hi Vis colouring ensures workers can easily identify where their anchor is – it also led to the name!

All SpanSet products are tested extensively – we have excellent testing facilities and our Team of Instructors put new innovations through their paces and feedback the findings.

However, we are also open to testing equipment in other ways.

When Jane Allen, a member of our Marketing Team and keen caver, travelled to Vietnam to help with the rigging of Hang Son Doong, for the season she took one of the new slings with her.

Hang Son Doong is one of the largest caves in the world.  Oxalis Adventures organise tours for adventurous tourists through this magnificent natural wonder every year.  Safety Specialist at Oxalis, Pham Hong Dai (known as Dai) was given the new slingas soon as he saw it, he said ‘It looks like a Viper’ – and the name stuck!
