What name/nickname do you prefer to be called?   

I don’t usually mind how my name gets abbreviated but “K” is very effective.         

If you could write your own job title that best describes what you do here, what would it be? 

Freelance Height Safety & IRATA Trainer.  Working with people to maintain/improve their competence in using industrial abseiling to work safely at height.

What do you enjoy about the work you do? 

My first ever job was as a climbing instructor. I found teaching fulfilling and I think I’ve always found rope systems really intriguing.

I get to share and use this interest as an Instructor at SpanSet and when I'm on site running rope access jobs.

During training we get to breakdown all the systems, techniques and knowledge required for working on the ropes which I really enjoy.

What are your hobbies? 

I'm a caver and love how being underground often feels like being on another planet.

I like all sorts of mountaineering but winter/ice climbing I find most magical.

I’m hoping to get more into cycling, kayaking and skiing (hopefully one day ski mountaineering). 

What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work? 

I help run trips and training sessions for mountaineering and caving clubs.

I also help teach at regional and national caving meets.
