What Training courses do you offer?
For 20+ years SpanSet have been at the forefront of providing a wide range of Training courses: Working at Height (including Gotcha Rescue, IRATA, MATS) to Lifting, Load Restraint, Confined Spaces and Equipment Inspection plus much more.
Our professional and knowledgeable Instructors have extensive industry experience in a wide range of sectors: From Telecoms to Rope Access, the Armed Forces to Construction. Where does Training take place?
Our purpose-built Training Facility based in Middlewich, Cheshire offers exceptional Training Structures and facilities including a Lattice Mast, Open Faced Tower and Monopole, both indoor and outdoor Training Structures and Rooftops together with state of the art classrooms with smartboard technology.
Training can also take place on site providing suitable facilities and structures are available. Our Trainers travel widely throughout the country and internationally. Please contact us for further information.
How much do training courses cost?
Delegates can book onto open courses which are scheduled throughout the year. The individual rate is £220.00 + VAT for most courses: Competent Person Practical Inspection and Record Keeping for example. Other course rates may vary, please refer to our Training Pages for further information.
It is also possible to book a dedicated course for a group of employees. We can arrange training here at the SpanSet training centre or at a location of your choice, such as you own premises (subject to suitability). SpanSet are part of the CITB Employer Network. If you are registered with CITB you can receive 70% funding towards the cost of trainining.
What availability do you have and how do I book?
For open courses, we offer the next available dates from the dairy or you can look to see if a date that suits you is available. You can either book directly online or give our helpful training team a call on 01606 738529.
We can also arrange dedicated courses for groups for training at SpanSet or at your location providing suitable structures and facilities are available. Please contact our helpful Training Team for further information and to book.
What methods of payment do you accept and when do I have to pay?
We take credit card or debit cards and bacs payments. Payment is due 5 working days before your training course is due to commence.
Will I receive a certificate and when will it expire?
Yes. All our certificates are now in a pdf format and will include the delegate’s photo. Our courses are normally valid for 3 years, however some differ – MATS certificates are valid for 1 year for example.
Where will my certificate be sent?
All certificates are sent to the person who booked the training. If you booked and paid for the training yourself and you attend a course at SpanSet you will be able to leave with your certificate emailed to you at the end of the day.
Is it possible to swap candidate names for a course that has been booked?
Of course. Please advise before the training takes place and we will swap the name over at no additional cost.
Do you run 'Train the Trainer' courses?
Unfortunately no. Please refer to the link for further information.
What times do courses start and finish?
Our courses start at 9.00am, with registration at 8.30am and finish at approximately 16.30pm. We can start earlier or later if your require.
In bad weather are practical training courses conducted inside or outside?
During bad weather the Instructor will risk assess outside conditions and if possible more training indoors providing learning outcomes can still be met.
What do I need to wear for practical courses?
All course requirements will be sent with course joining instructions. Normally you will be asked to bring a site helmet, steel toe cap safety boots, hi-vis vest and warm clothing.
Can I use my own Personal Fall Protective Equipment (harness and lanyard)?
Yes, however we will require an examination report showing it has been thoroughly inspected within the last 6 months.
Can I bring an interpreter?
SpanSet courses (written and assessed) are delivered in English. Delegate's individual learning needs are considered and interpreters can be arranged to attend site with the delegates if necessary.
Do you have a list of local accommodation?
Yes, we can send over a list of all local venues to stay.
Are lunch and refreshments provided?
Yes, lunch is provided and refreshments are available throughout the day - we have a fantastic coffee machine and biscuits.
Where can I park?
We have a good sized car park with spaces available at the side and front of the building.
How far from the train station are you?
We are about 20 minutes car journey from Crewe train station and 10 minutes from Winsford. Winsford station is un-manned so you will need to book a taxi beforehand. We can send over the local taxi numbers if you require.
What support is available after successful completion of my course?
SpanSet Instructors are happy to provide contact details so you can get in touch with any queries or if you need clarification/advice on what you have learnt on your training course.
